A Yankee bet calculator is a bet across 4 selections taking part in different events consisting of 6 Doubles, 4 Trebles, and one Four-Fold totaling 11 bets.

Add together the return of each winning Double, Treble, or Four-Fold bet. In order to ensure some winnings, two selections have to win in a Yankee bet. The simplest method is to use our Yankee bet calculator, but if you’d like to know how to work it out yourself here’s how you do it.

If you’re using fractional odds convert them into decimal odds by dividing the top number by the bottom and adding one. For the doubles, trebles, and four-fold multiply the decimal odds for the relevant selections together and then multiply the result by your unit stake.

Can I place an each-way Yankee Bet?

Yes, place an each-way Yankee in exactly the same way. All you need to do is click the each-way box on the bet calculator. When placing an each-way Yankee, the number of bets you are placing is doubled from 11 to 22. In effect, you are backing all of them twice – once for all of them to win, and again for all of them to place.

That means that the stake you enter into the bet slip is multiplied by 22 rather than 11, so double-check before placing your bet.

Alternatively, you may want to back some of your horses to win and others each-way.

In that instance, simply tick the ‘E/W’ box next to your horse in the bet slip. The number of bets that you are placing then remains at 11.

What happens to the Yankee bet calculator bet with a non-runner?

If a Yankee includes a non-runner, all 11 bets still stand.

  • One non-runner and one winner in a double would see you paid out to the value of the single winner.
  • One non-runner and two winners in a treble would see you paid out to the value of the double that the two winners create.
  • One non-runner and three winners in a four-fold would see you paid out to the value of the treble that the three winners create.

What are the Drawbacks of a Yankee Bet?

The main issue with a Yankee bet calculator is that it doesn’t allow you to stake different amounts on the different multiples within the bet. They all have to be the same. You may wish to stake less on the four-fold than the doubles for example, or you may wish to have higher stakes on the single, doubles, and trebles containing your most fancied selection.
