How to calculate each way bet. An Each Way Bet is actually made up of two separate bets, a Single and a Place. A £1 each-way bet will cost £2

An Each Way bet is simply two bets on a single selection. One section of the bet is for a win, the other section is for the bet to be placed; placed is to come between 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. So if your selection wins, you’ll be paid for both parts of the bet, but if it’s placed, then you’ll only be paid for the place bet. Each-way terms vary but quite often they are 1/3, 1/4, or 1/5 the odds.

To calculate each-way bet the bet calculator has the each-way option enabled. You can then pick No. of selections, stake, betting odds, if they Won, Placed, Dead Heat, Lost or Non-Runner, and the terms from the drop-down menus.

What are Each Way Bet Way Place Terms

Place terms are the odds you get for the place element of your wager, whether it’s an each-way bet or a to be placed bet. The pay-out of your wager is determined by place terms.
You’ll win your bet if you put an EW (1/5 of the odds, 3 places) bet and your horse finishes in the top three. Your placing wager will be paid out at 1/5th of the odds you chose for that horse.

If the horse comes in first, you’ll be paid on both the Win and Place parts of your wager.
If your horse came in second or third, you’ll only get paid on the place section of your wager; the win portion will be a loser.
The terms of the place and the number of places paid are usually determined by the number of runners in the race.

How do you calculate an Each Way Bet?

To put it into practice, a £10 Each Way Bet totals £20. If your selection wins at odds of 8/1 you pay out £8 for every pound you spend plus your initial stake of £10 for the win part of the bet. So that’s £90 just for winning.

The second part of the bet also has some winnings. If each way odds are ¼, that means you’ll be paid ¼ of 8/1 for the place part of the bet which is 2/1 for your £10 stake for a place that returns another £30. Totalling £120. If your selection was placed, you’d only be entitled to £30 in total just for the place part of your bet as the win section had lost.
